However, I STRONGLY AGREE with the the comments and the analysis of Dr. Dereje's songs in the comment. I want to say thank and God bless you richly to brother Gezahegn!
I don't know why some react and say that talking about Brother Dereje is is wrong?! LEMIN YAMACHEWAL?!
In addition, who said that we have finished talking about Jesus?! We will talk about Him until He comes! But, in the meantime we will also encourage our brothers and sisters 'who are fighting the good fight!' I hope that you see my point.
Again, I say thank you & thank you to Brother Gezahegn. God bless!

For those of you who were saying "Let's talk about Jesus" minamin, where were you when people were butchering Dereje in the past? Why didn't you come up front back then to tell us to talk about Jesus? Or do you have any other motive?
In any case, I found Gashe Gezahegn's article probably the fairest and most balanced article that was written on the works of Dereje Kebede's recent album. Gashe Gezahegn's comments has healed pain that I got by reading Pastor Shiferaw Feyisa's comment under another blog. And Gashe Gezahegn's experience in different ministries of a Church in Ethiopia gives his comments more power and credibility. I personally know that Gashe Gezahegn was the president of the Elder's Board @ Mekanissa Mekane Yesus when I was in Ethiopia.
God bless Dereje Kebede!

I should say this, talking about Jesus is not" menamen" .We are alive for it.Please let us mind our language.I don't think brother Dr Dereje cares about what people talk about him.He is a matured and educated christian.Let us not talk babyish but talk as christians who love and respect the LORD and each other!
but i have questions: Are every "zemary"prophet or prophetess found at fault. Should we generalize and condemn every body?! OR shouldn't we show each other's weaknesses in love and respect in order to correct and not discourage each other???
God Bless

From album #9 what I liked is 'the Amliko Netsanet'. The rest was boring for me. He used one instrument (Key-board), No accompanying brothers and sisters in particular, no variety - as Brother Endale said, Dereje predominantly used Ragae style music. He was the only voice in the album...all these made this one album unusually boring compared to his past albums, particularly the remote past ones.
Conversely,I can't stop listening to Gezahegn's blessed songs over and over again (in all the 4 albums he published since nearly 22 years ago). God bless you brother Gezu. I also admire your many insights you shade in the carefully printed article.
I finally thank Ethiocross for opening a forum whereby Christians from all walks of life, from across the globe could communicate, teach and shape one another in light of the Holy Scripture. You guys are doing an awesome job and God bless you soooooooo much.

" mene yeshaleghale aye mene yeshaleghale ...kezihe muwach sega mane yelegheale.." this is the person i love most ...and never give up to open my ears and also never fed up to pay attention for what he says through his songs and words ..what he tried to disclose in his 9th album is what God has given him to tell for those "zemenegha chrstians yetekeme bariyawoche".zare yalemekera yemesegana zemene newe eyalene yemenezemerwe enesu bekefelulene waga newe ...yedurowochu,eweneteghocheu ...geta yebarekehe dere ,gashe gezaheghe egeziyabehere yebarkehe selesetehene besale mele-ekete ..ewenete menegezeme ewenete newe !Derege's songs are devotional ,very teaching, inspirational and timelss which are being heared by all ethiopian chrstian generation and unblievers too as i used to do it before i came to christ.God bless ye all .

To share biblical and theological truths we don't have to be in America or Ethiopia. Biblical and theological truths are not subjective. We also don't have to be from certain geographical location to share our concerns (be it in writing or with songs) and contemporary flaws. Dereje really "abeje"! Gezahegn has put it very well.
Most of our "cheqla" singers do not know those years of persecution and do not have the reference to compare the modern-day so-called ministers. What they sing is "tegibealehu, amrealehu, wefrealehu" etc. And they are satisfied with that and the money they are making. They think we, the listeners, are satisfied as well. How wrong! Unfortunately, There is no standard or a body that checks the songs that are mass-produced.
Both Dereje and Gezahegn, way to go!
God bless you all (including Ethiocross and thos of you who share well meant opinions).

He has to be part of the congregation.
When we look at the history of the church one of reformers by the name John Hus was burned to death as a heretic on july 6th 1415. But John Hus remained a dedicated Catholic.I can name one reformer after another who remained loyal to their congregation eventhough they do not agree with the teaching of the catholic church.Because they vowed that their life would count for one thing- the reformation of the catholic church from within.
What happened to Dereje Kebede ? Who persecuted him ? Why is he running away from the Ethiopian congregation and try to correct the problem in Ethiopian churches. I see him as a hypocrite nothing more than that.If he is not with us let him keep quite.
