Why are we talking about Derage? Have we fished talking about Jesus? Let us lift our eyes and see Jesus. I am sure when we see HIM, then we pick up His burden for soul, then we cry out for their salvation. All other things which has no eternal value will not be a subject of our topic. so pls, let us get back to the cry of our LORD. The reason for cross is soul. Is that your primary reason for living? if not why not?

I agree with some points with a reservation that Dereje brought this album either for the kingdom of God or just he is angery and jelous with ministers? However, I strongly dis agree with Gezahegen that he did mention that TB Joshua as a model. Becareful gezahegne, Tb Joshua is a witch or cult leader. We do not compare the church with Cults. thank you. In general, Gezahegne has to be apprecitated with his coment and talent he did offer to the church. I personaly respect his ministry."

i have some concern here ,please let us talk about Jesus,be encuraged by the multitude of new soles that THE HOLY SPIRIT called them.bro, Dereje or else does not save any one.Let us not west time.Let us pray be example.we have ample cretics in church in every corner but i am afraid not much Jesus like examples. We have leadership problems and we are still in view of the perspective of 30 or 40 years back.it is true we have problems, we have also encuraging signs.we should accept new or young singers who have called to serve and want to serve our LORD.My daughter shouldn't necesserly listen to bro Dreje's song.Eventhoug i have very much like his song and blessed.May GOD open our eyes.

I also don't know about Joshua TB?

However, I STRONGLY AGREE with the the comments and the analysis of Dr. Dereje's songs in the comment. I want to say thank and God bless you richly to brother Gezahegn!

I don't know why some react and say that talking about Brother Dereje is is wrong?! LEMIN YAMACHEWAL?!

In addition, who said that we have finished talking about Jesus?! We will talk about Him until He comes! But, in the meantime we will also encourage our brothers and sisters 'who are fighting the good fight!' I hope that you see my point.

Again, I say thank you & thank you to Brother Gezahegn. God bless!

God Bless you Gashe Gezahegn. I have known you and your songs for long and people like you and Dereje have been a blessing to the Ethiopian Church. I have been longing to get the book that you recently authored about "amliko" but I couldn't find it anywhere. Please continue to give us your comments on different issues.

For those of you who were saying "Let's talk about Jesus" minamin, where were you when people were butchering Dereje in the past? Why didn't you come up front back then to tell us to talk about Jesus? Or do you have any other motive?

In any case, I found Gashe Gezahegn's article probably the fairest and most balanced article that was written on the works of Dereje Kebede's recent album. Gashe Gezahegn's comments has healed pain that I got by reading Pastor Shiferaw Feyisa's comment under another blog. And Gashe Gezahegn's experience in different ministries of a Church in Ethiopia gives his comments more power and credibility. I personally know that Gashe Gezahegn was the president of the Elder's Board @ Mekanissa Mekane Yesus when I was in Ethiopia.

God bless Dereje Kebede!

I would like to thank Brother Gezahgn for his extensive, and balanced assessment of Dr. Dereje's current album.I believe it is Biblical to speak gracefully to one another as Gezahgn did. As I understand, Dereje is challenging us to raise our bar to Biblical standard. May God help everyone of us.

@God blesse Dr. Dereje for his boldness and his awakning call for this generation,As a church we must return from this eartly envasion and we must turn before the ertly worship control the church, We must pray and Thank God for his true sprit filled worship leders,I am afraid if we donot repent and exalt the Holy sprit the church will be left alone with out the power.

I would like to thank you bro Gezahgn and Dr Br Dereje for your contribution in all respect.
I should say this, talking about Jesus is not" menamen" .We are alive for it.Please let us mind our language.I don't think brother Dr Dereje cares about what people talk about him.He is a matured and educated christian.Let us not talk babyish but talk as christians who love and respect the LORD and each other!

but i have questions: Are every "zemary"prophet or prophetess found at fault. Should we generalize and condemn every body?! OR shouldn't we show each other's weaknesses in love and respect in order to correct and not discourage each other???

God Bless

I disagree with Gezahegn's assessment on Dereje #9. He overused colorful expressions as: "tesemtew Yemayitegebu". Probably Gezahegn is listening to Dereje's old album. Or could be over bored with the current tasteless songs that inundated the market!

From album #9 what I liked is 'the Amliko Netsanet'. The rest was boring for me. He used one instrument (Key-board), No accompanying brothers and sisters in particular, no variety - as Brother Endale said, Dereje predominantly used Ragae style music. He was the only voice in the album...all these made this one album unusually boring compared to his past albums, particularly the remote past ones.

Conversely,I can't stop listening to Gezahegn's blessed songs over and over again (in all the 4 albums he published since nearly 22 years ago). God bless you brother Gezu. I also admire your many insights you shade in the carefully printed article.

I finally thank Ethiocross for opening a forum whereby Christians from all walks of life, from across the globe could communicate, teach and shape one another in light of the Holy Scripture. You guys are doing an awesome job and God bless you soooooooo much.

thank ye gashe gezehaghe for your constractive comment ,May God bless ye.I know derege through his exceptional and heavenly songs since my childhood even before i came to christ accepting him as personal savior..i have been personaly touched by Derege's devine and heavenly songs for years .Derege, who has been teaching me through out my life ,by being optimistic , on one hand he points towards himself and showing his weakness inside out on the other hand he teaches and advises others in his anoited, powerful and heavenly words which could rarely be seen and told in this pretendable chrstian life.Derege is a very incomarable person as he alwayes sings the truth that kept hidden in every individual.his songs indicate a person's(mine) weakness on his way telling and concidering himself a siner who saved simply by grace of God and still battles with sin and flesh as we all do.
" mene yeshaleghale aye mene yeshaleghale ...kezihe muwach sega mane yelegheale.." this is the person i love most ...and never give up to open my ears and also never fed up to pay attention for what he says through his songs and words ..what he tried to disclose in his 9th album is what God has given him to tell for those "zemenegha chrstians yetekeme bariyawoche".zare yalemekera yemesegana zemene newe eyalene yemenezemerwe enesu bekefelulene waga newe ...yedurowochu,eweneteghocheu ...geta yebarekehe dere ,gashe gezaheghe egeziyabehere yebarkehe selesetehene besale mele-ekete ..ewenete menegezeme ewenete newe !Derege's songs are devotional ,very teaching, inspirational and timelss which are being heared by all ethiopian chrstian generation and unblievers too as i used to do it before i came to christ.God bless ye all .

O! WHAT a WODERFUL OBSERVATION and comment. God Bless you, Gezahen Mussie in abandunet. Yes. We need to appreciate genuine Gosbel singers and servants like Derje Kebede and others. Brother Gezahen; you are right, If we really exmine our christian lives and our churchs lives, almost all of us, mainly our leaders are against the Gosbel truth, HEPOCRATS. But, the good thing is We still have time and GOD's mercy up on us for clean up. To be practical, Let's stand up brothers and sisters in christ to clean the churchs's messes up. For those who still do not fell these all messed ups, Let God help you by giving you clear and clean insight and perception to see and clean junks in your lives and in your churchs lives like Derje Kebede and very few God's other serevants. JESUS HELP us. AMEN.

I enjoyed both the article by Gezahegn and the comments made. Eventhough the article capitalized on one song (ye amliko netsanet), the observation is excellent.

To share biblical and theological truths we don't have to be in America or Ethiopia. Biblical and theological truths are not subjective. We also don't have to be from certain geographical location to share our concerns (be it in writing or with songs) and contemporary flaws. Dereje really "abeje"! Gezahegn has put it very well.

Most of our "cheqla" singers do not know those years of persecution and do not have the reference to compare the modern-day so-called ministers. What they sing is "tegibealehu, amrealehu, wefrealehu" etc. And they are satisfied with that and the money they are making. They think we, the listeners, are satisfied as well. How wrong! Unfortunately, There is no standard or a body that checks the songs that are mass-produced.

Both Dereje and Gezahegn, way to go!

God bless you all (including Ethiocross and thos of you who share well meant opinions).

Brother Gezahegn that is your observation. But I have a question for Gezahegn and all those who agree with his comments.Dereje Kebede is not part of the Ethiopian community. He is not a memeber of any Ethiopian church here in the united states so how come he try to correct what is in Ethiopian churches ?
He has to be part of the congregation.
When we look at the history of the church one of reformers by the name John Hus was burned to death as a heretic on july 6th 1415. But John Hus remained a dedicated Catholic.I can name one reformer after another who remained loyal to their congregation eventhough they do not agree with the teaching of the catholic church.Because they vowed that their life would count for one thing- the reformation of the catholic church from within.
What happened to Dereje Kebede ? Who persecuted him ? Why is he running away from the Ethiopian congregation and try to correct the problem in Ethiopian churches. I see him as a hypocrite nothing more than that.If he is not with us let him keep quite.
