'Blind Side' Makes Actress Re-Think Christianity (Video)
CBN:-The film Blind Side made a strong box office finish this weekend for a new sports movie featuring a Christian family.
The movie, starring actor Sandra Bullock and singer Tim McGraw, chronicles the uplifting, real-life rags to riches story of Baltimore Raven offensive lineman Michael Oher.
The couple stopped to question the teen and learned he was homeless. They later adopted the boy and introduced him to their beloved sport of football.
Oher eventually grew up to become a star football player at the University of Mississippi who went on to play for the NFL.
A New View of Christians
McGraw, who plays Sean Tuohy, said if the film hadn't been based on a true story he never would have believed it.
"I think people have those kinds of circumstances all the time and they don't confront them. This one was all about turning the car around and asking questions," McGraw told the San Francisco Chronicle.
Sandra Bullock said she was initially reluctant to work with Leigh Anne since she'd had less the positive experiences with Christians.
"People use it [Christianity] as a banner, and then they don't do the right thing," she told Straight.com.
However, Bullock later had a change of heart.
She said, "I feel I have finally met someone who practices but doesn't preach. I now have faith in those who say they represent a faith."
So why did the couple reach out to Oher?
"Because he needed some clothes. That's all it really was. Then he needed a place to sleep. The depths of need never stopped. And she got so far into it, she couldn't get out of it. And she fell in love with him," Sean Tuohy told the Chronicle.
The movie made an estimated $34.5 million to finish second at the box office.
