It was about 35 years a go, when I was a 8th grade student, in a town called Zewai there was about 4 Evangelical teachers at a secondary school where I was attending at the time. Just because of their faith they expelled from school to other province by request from the people (EOC) living in the city through EDER. I was wondered asked myself at the time why? They were some of the best teachers in the school. Eventually it did not take me too long to figure out why that happens to them. There was no a single evangelical church in that city, except a Sweden missioners at the time. They are the only evangelical believers (PENTE) in the that city.To make the long story short, today in that city (Zewia) the number of evangelical Churches are more than the EOC. So, the EOC (at Olenkomi) are not without a reasons, they smelled the fate of Zewai (a city south about 150 mile south of Addis). God bless Ethiopia.

This report is so arrogant to make an impression that the conflict is between christians and non-christians. This sort of grouping is in fact the root cause of the problem. W have to acknowledge that both are christans using the bible as their main scripture but with different interpretation. We have to stop 'my way is the only way' mentality. Leadres of both parties shall stop portraying that they are following Jesus and others are corrupting the bible and go to the extent that the other party is enemy of christ and christianity. If they really live a life in the way of christ for sure such conflicts could never happen. They should have lived side by side with people of other scripture let alone the bible. I have seen no party measuring up the bible's standard. All are faking christianity. The way we act and the way the bible teaches us is cmpletelly different. We always complain and remain traped in accusations and counter acusations. Lets find a biblical way to solve this stand off for once and forever then and only then can God's will reign on our land. A christan who fails to make peace is not a christan by any standard of the bible. We are quick to point fingers. I'm orthodox christian and believe in the tachings of the church but the way the church leaders are handling things always confuse me. It is the same for other churches too. Their taching and inplimentations don't measure up the bible standards. I always discuss this issue with my friends(both orthodox and protestants). Most agree with this basic problem but afraid to question it in public. Some automatically ask me if I go to protestant church. When you say the teaching is being corupted you will be lebeled. I argue to the extent that we can find a common ground even with muslims without compromising our basic beliefe and make peace. We can win any body with honest discussion and acceting people the way they are. We can draw clear bounderies where we can work together and where we can't and still remain in peace and Love to each other.

Please lets open our eyes and try to find a biblically founded lasting peace and love. Lets start to accept and respect others understanding of religion.

Le God help us break the cycle of hate, accusation and counter accusation

Unfortunately, where Christianity is more of mere culture than relationship with Christ, any thing going against the established norm can trigger devatating anarchy. Mob action is "unenlightened democracy" at its best which can lead to seious anarchy. For centuries priests seem to have enjoyed their blissful biblical ignorance upon which the both the political and religious heirarchies depended for ruling the Ethiopisn people. Now, in the dawn of the digital age the old pseudo-wisdom may not work any more. Only true Christ-centered Christianity, unadalterated by modern fallacy or archaic hipocarcy, is the way forward to peaceful coexistence. In other words, both the Orthodox and the Pentes should go back to biblical Christianity where true believers were not the persecutors but the persecuted. They should study the word of God rather than basing their claims on who is right or wrong like the Berean believers who searched the scriptures.

I was victim of such a crime in Bahar Dar some 42 years ago when I was a student at the Polytechnic. Look what is happening in the region today. Bible based Churches have mushroomed. The gospel is bringing light to the communites (Is. 61:1-3). How true is the saying, "the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church of Christ". Persecution is like the ball of fire the respondants is talking about in the news story above. No power can stop the Holy Spirit's movement as the gospel is preached and lived by. If the communities claim they are Christians, whether Pente or Orthodox, their commitment to the gospel would be the bond of peace.

I may add also, that the incumbent government should not leave those helpless minorities to the tyrany of the powerful majority for the sake of "winning the vote". God is always on the side of the victims and His righteous justice will prevail. It is better to lose the vote rather than facing divine justice. Is not the fear of God the beginning of wisdom?

Chrisitanity is about the CROSS, NOT THE SWORD OR STONES AND STCKS. "Blessed are the persecuted for My name's sake", said Christ. It remains our resposniblity to pray for the pesecuted sints and to bless the enemies of the gospel by sharing and demonstrating the love of God.
