Kuwaiti Policeman rapes Ethiopian female inmate in prison
Emirates 24/7:- A Kuwaiti policeman dragged an Ethiopian woman from among other inmates at a prison in the Gulf emirate and raped her in front of them, a newspaper reported Tuesday.
The police man entered Nozha prison in Kuwait City and forced the Ethiopian woman out of the packed cell, where she has been detained along with others for absconding from their employers, Alanba Arabic language daily said.
“All other inmates testified to the police chief what the policeman did to the Ethiopian inmate,” the paper said.
“After interrogation, the police man confessed to his crime. He was arrested and would stand trial

Related Story: Police's irresponsibility can't be tolerated Kuwait Times:- There is no better place than a police station that can accord protection and safety to people. This place has become a haven for terrified lonely expatriates -- men and women. I fail to think of an appropriate place. An Ethiopian woman was held in police custody after an absconding case was filed against her. A policeman had physically abused her in front of other women who were in custody. The police captain, head of the police station, reported the incident to superiors. They have also filed a c
ase against this person so that legal procedures can be taken.
Now, this is not the first time that we have read about crimes committed against expat women in custody. We usually do not know what happens next to those who are accused of such crimes. This is applicable only if they get punished or expelled from service. They get paid to serve and not rape lonely women and misuse the power that is bestowed on them! In fact, such people do not deserve to remain in service. This is because they are not worth being retained in a field that demands decency.
Corruption in not accepted anywhere. When we talk about public fields and official departments that will basically save lives and protect the public, regardless of their origin and ranks. This is especially the case with the Ministry of Interior. Mistakes are not acceptable and corruption is not forgivable. This is why the public was clearly angry at the Ministry of Interior. Mohammad Al-Mutarai was tortured and killed at the hands of police officers. No one will rest until the real murderers receive
punishment in accordance with law.
Now, should embassies install a police checkpoint to ensure that no harm happens to citizens? This is the case, if the police station cannot provide for safety until they solve their troubles with sponsors and leave Kuwait for good. Urgent action needs to be taken against men in uniform who harass or rape those who have already abused women! They certainly do not deserve to be with each other. They have enough troubles already.
Allegations of rape need to be investigated, especially, the ones made by expatriates under police custody! I also think that installing cameras that are connected to the minister's office directly should be a good idea. The police station should not have any access to those cameras that supervise the minister's office.
I think people who get arrested in connection with absconding cases should be imprisoned. I refuse to work for someone who is wanted in connection with another crime. The NGOs in Kuwait must pay more attention to the idea of building a private shelter. I think it is a wonderful step, corruption will not be lauded any more.
